I'm Adam, the owner of Shrimp & Aquatics UK. I first kept shrimp around 35 years ago as a kid, picked it back up in 2026, and it did not take long before the tank count started climbing. As my knowledge and colonies developed I started Shrimp & Aquatics UK to help people learn about breeding Neocaridina and to show off our tanks and the animals we keep. Selling became the natural next step — it keeps numbers manageable, funds the hobby and means the shrimp go to people who will look after them. No warehouse, no bulk importing, no mass-production, just home-bred high-quality shrimp. Every shrimp is born and raised here in Chester, in the comfort of my own home.
Our Neocaridina Breeding Pipeline
Everything here runs as a dedicated pipeline where no two colours ever share the same tank. Our Fire, Ultra Gold 24k, and Carbon Rilli colonies breed in their own fully scaped Superfish Qubic 60s. Our Bloody Mary, Painted Fire, Blue Dream and Ultra Sunkist colonies breed on the Rio 450 stand in dedicated Superfish Qubic 30 and Superfish Scaper 45 tanks, while our Green Jades breed in a 25L on the Rio 450. When babies are ready, they move straight into their own dedicated grow-out and maturation tanks, keeping each line separate. From the growout and maturation tanks, we cull the lower quality shrimp, the best go back into the breeding tanks, and the remaining shrimp and culls are made available for sale.
The Breeding Phase
Our Superfish Qubic 60 Pro breeding tanks are fully scaped ecosystems planted with Tropica plants and featuring rocks and wood. Our Superfish Qubic 30 Pro and Superfish Scaper 45 breeding tanks homed on our Juwell Rio 450 stand are moderately planted with Java Ferns, Java Moss, and floating plants. Each breeding tank is maintained to give each colony clean stable conditions and room to breed naturally.
The Grow-Out/Maturation Phase
As soon as babies are born they move into their own dedicated grow-out and maturation tanks so the breeding tanks don't overpopulate and the babies can develop without competition. Our Fire, Ultra Gold, and Carbon Rilli colonies move from the Qubic 60 Pro breeding tanks to the Qubic 30 Pro tanks on our racks. Our Blue Dream, Orange Sunkist, and Green Jade move from the Superfish Qubic 30 Pros and Superfish Scaper 45s to the Aqua One OptiClear growout tanks, and our Blood Mary and Painted Fire move to the Superfish Scaper 60s.
