Our Blue Velvet Neocaridina Shrimp
Welcome to our Blue Velvet gallery. These shrimp represent a meticulously developed line that we’ve been cultivating right here in Chester. Over many months, our colony has matured into a stable and prolific group, characterized by a vibrant, translucent sky-blue hue and excellent color density across their entire bodies.
This specific colony breeds and develops within a Swell 25-liter aquarium. We have opted for a clean, inert substrate that doesn't buffer the water, allowing the flora to dictate the tank's balance. The environment is thick with Java moss and Java fern, while Hornwort and Water Lettuce provide a dense canopy. This combination creates an ideal micro-environment for the shrimp to forage and for the shrimplets to find safety during their growth stages.
Our water management is kept straightforward: pH 7.6, KH 6, and GH 7. While these are the targets we aim for, our real focus is on long-term consistency. In our experience, Neocaridina are far more successful when kept in stable, unchanging conditions rather than in a tank where the chemistry is constantly being adjusted.
To maintain their health and pigment, we utilize a rotational feeding schedule. Their diet consists of high-quality staples like Glasgarten Shrimp Dinner and Shrimp Baby, supplemented with Shrimp Fit, BacterAE, and Snowflake for grazing. We also offer occasional bloodworms to boost protein intake. This variety, coupled with the natural biofilm present in a mature setup, ensures healthy molting and robust growth in every new generation.
