Fire Red Cherries
High-Grade Fire Red Cherries (Neocaridina davidi) are a vibrant and highly sought-after colour morph, prized for providing a significant step up in colour intensity from standard Cherry and Sakura grades. A true Fire Red grade is defined by a completely solid, opaque red body and carapace, offering intense, full coverage without the translucent body patches seen in lower grades. Unlike Sakuras, High-Grade Fire Red Cherry Shrimp show consistent, deep colour across the top and sides, though you will typically see slight colour breaks or translucency on the legs, which is the key hallmark distinguishing them from the higher Painted grade.
These shrimp are famously hardy and adapt to a variety of water conditions, making them a staple for any level of hobbyist. They act as a tireless natural clean-up crew that spends their time grazing on algae and biofilm, helping to maintain a clean and balanced planted aquarium. Their peaceful nature allows them to thrive in community setups alongside small, shrimp-safe nano fish, and they are prolific breeders when provided with a stable environment and plenty of hiding spots among aquarium moss and plants.
Our Breeding Standards
We raise our High-Grade Fire Red Cherries in our home in Chester within natural ecosystems. Our shrimp colonies are bred and raised in Superfish tanks, scaped exclusively with premium Tropica plants and maintained with reliable Hygger filtration to ensure a stable biological balance. This home-bred approach ensures every shrimp is perfectly acclimated to UK water conditions and at peak health before it ever leaves our care. By focusing on superior genetics and natural environments rather than mass-imported stock, we provide robust, UK-bred shrimp that have been nurtured through their entire life cycle.
