Painted Fire Red Neocaridina are the absolute elite tier of red shrimp, prized for their intense colour and natural hardiness. While a standard Cherry is translucent and a Fire Red has a solid red body, a Painted Fire has a shell so thick and opaque it looks like it’s been hit with a deep coat of gloss, completely hiding the internal organs and the "saddle." These peaceful inhabitants are active scavengers that spend their time grazing on algae and biofilm, helping to maintain a healthy biological balance in any planted aquascape.
Every shrimp is home-bred and raised in our natural planted ecosystems in Chester to ensure they are healthy and perfectly acclimated to UK conditions. Our high-grade Painted Fires are selectively bred for maximum colour density and shell thickness, ensuring you receive superior genetics. Raised through a meticulous maturation process, they arrive at your door at the peak of their vitality and ready to thrive in your aquarium.
This listing is for ten, twenty, or thirty High-Grade Painted Fire Red Neocaridina. Each shrimp is hand-picked from our final 60-litre maturation ecosystems to ensure it meets our strict standards for deep, opaque coverage across the entire body and legs. Within this high-grade line, some individuals will display a bold line running down the back known as a racing stripe. This is a very common genetic trait in premium red lines that adds a massive amount of contrast and character to the deep red.
Feeding and Care Tips
To maintain their intense red pigment and shell health, we recommend a varied diet. While they graze naturally on biofilm, you should supplement with high-quality shrimp pellets, mineral solids, and the occasional blanched vegetable like spinach or courgette. Adding natural botanicals like Catappa leaves or alder cones to the tank provides extra grazing surfaces and essential tannins that support their immune system. For the best results, keep water parameters stable and avoid large, sudden water changes.
